Hi Dave,

Thanks for writing. It's really tough to say what kind of improvement one will see above and beyond a specified recommendation. When we make a recommendation it is based on what we think is possible if the patient were to have surgery on the same day of said recommendation. The amount of hair above this recommendation that can be taken with three months of exercises depends on the make up of your scalp tissue. Those with thicker scalps tend to need more time to loosen up whereas those with thinner scalps can make the donor area more loose in less time. The physiology of any patient determines how loose the patient can make their donor area assuming the scalp exercises are performed as instructed. So, in summary, I don't exactly know. It can range from an increase of 500 grafts to 2000 grafts but of course because we don't know exactly what we'll get sans scalp exercises we cannot accurately gauge how much benefit the patient received in the end. We do know they work however as tight patients have returned with loose scalps after even a few weeks of exercises.

will the laxity exercises you demonstrate really help if started 3 months prior to your very first procedure? If the doctors estimated 4500 grafts what percentage over that estimate might one expect if the laxity exercises were followed?

Thank you for your comments. Five years on I'm still enjoying the difference that my procedures have meant for me and I still appreciate the comments by my readers. In my case, Mike in our Seattle office told me that my donor area was a 3 out of 10. This was because I had two stacked donor scars in my donor area but my density was not the best either. In fact, it was average at best but my hair is considered to be on the fine side so more grafts were needed in my case to get the same result of someone with hairs that are thicker in diameter. My saving grace has always been what Dr. Wong has called my "mutant laxity" in that my laxity was way above average even after having two previous procedures. That is why my case, especially back in the day, was considered to be so unusually good.

Regarding the email issue, thank you for pointing it out. I'll work on it as soon as I can.

Hi Joe,

Congrats on your impressive hair restoration results. I really like your story because it was a great success and I feel we have many of the same hair characteristics. I've had Dr. Wong review my case via photos.

Question re: your density. Were you above, average, or below average on the density scale? Do you know what your donor hair density was?

Thanks...

Ron

PS Your jotronic@hairtransplantmentor.com email address isn't working. I sent an email earlier and it bounced back to me. FYI.

Hi there. The cost would be $18375 USD (taxes included). Hasson & Wong subtracts $400 for travel and pay for two nights lodging at a local hotel. I'm not sure what the conversion would be for pounds, but you can check at http://www.xe.com for accurate currency conversion. If you have any more detailed questions, please contact the clinic directly. Ask for me ;-). I look forward to speaking with you. Thanks for writing.

The doctors never throw away hair. You must understand that estimates are just that, only estimates, so the final number will be lower or higher depending on your particular characteristics however the doctors are generally pretty accurate with their estimates. You would have to have above average donor laxity (which is hard to see in photos) for the final graft count to be significantly higher than our estimates. We always work with the patient regarding cases like this.

It was 4.5 and 2.5 a few years ago but like other clinics we have had a bump in the price. This was the case roughly three years ago.
