Now this is interesting. A few years ago Acell burst onto the scene and had a lot of people excited about the potential for the “unlimited donor supply”. As I predicted this never happened but what is interesting is the article below. The Pentagon commissioned the University of Pittsburgh to utilize pig bladder cells, more specifically the growth proteins from pig bladder, and use a special “matrix” to regrow muscle tissue. This doesn’t seem too far off from growing hair, at first, but hair is a much more intricate organ and much more difficult to “grow”. Regardless, this technology is extremely similar to that of Acell and it makes sense because Acell has it’s roots at the University of Pittsburgh.

I don’t know why I haven’t done this earlier but this post has nothing to do with hair or hair restoration in the least. I thought of my friend Antonio Graceffo today as I learned that there was an earthquake along the Thai/Burmese border. It didn’t appear to cause a lot of damage but nonetheless I wanted to make a post to support Antonio and his Asian endeavors.

This is a post about my friend Antonio Graceffo. He and I have known each other for over 20 years (college roommates) and he was instrumental in pulling me out of little ole east Tennessee so that I could see the world. Antonio is a pioneer of sorts. He has been traveling SE Asia for the past ten years learning and documenting countless martial arts styles, primarily the indigenous styles of the various countries in SE Asia, and learning about local customs and languages everywhere he goes. He has been labeled as a “martial arts anthropologist” as he is making a big contribution, perhaps the biggest, in preserving these potentially soon to be extinct forms of the martial arts that are overshadowed by more popular styles that get more press and exposure in the media.

For instance, he has helped to preserve the ancient martial art form from Cambodia known as “Bokator” and was so thorough in the documentation that he has worked with The Discovery Channel ( as well as History Channel, Black Belt Magazine, etc.) on various projects about Cambodia and the surrounding SE Asian countries because of the knowledge he has gained from his experiences. In addition he has been documenting the plight of the Shan State people of Burma (Myanmar) and their struggle for survival against the oppressive Burmese government. This is only the tip of the iceberg as Antonio has hundreds of stories to share on his Youtube channel, his blog and his (several) books available on Amazon.com.

If you watch and learn anything from Antonio do him a favor and donate to his cause as he does not make much money doing what he does and could always use the help to continue traveling and filming throughout SE Asia.

Click this link to make a donation to Antonio through Paypal.

Here is Antonio’s Youtube Chanel with (at the time of this writing) almost 350 videos.

This has nothing to do with hair loss obviously but I just saw the video of Nodar Kumaritashvili, the luge competitor from Georgia (the country, not the state) and the horrible crash that ended his life. It will be difficult to find for yourself online and I will not link to the video through here but if you do view the video do so at your own risk. I think I can safely say that he most likely did not suffer much, if at all. I send my condolences to the family of Nodar Kumaritashvili and his 2010 Olympic luge teammates during this horrible time.
